Current list status: The transfer to the new servers is now complete. If you are experiencing problems, please read the below, or contact help@epuk.org.
Which of these best describes your problem ?I can’t post to the list !If you are an EPUK member, you have tried to post to the list, but you have got a bounce message, then the reason is almost certainly that you have tried to post from a different email address to the one you have registered with EPUK. The address you try to post from must match exactly the address you have registered with EPUK, otherwise your post won’t get through. For example, if your registered email address with EPUK is mail@bobthephotographer.com, then posts sent from bob@bobthephotographer.com won’t get through, and neither will posts from bobthephotographer@yahoo.com To solve this, you can either change your registered email address, or post from the one you already have registered.
Why did my post get rejected with ‘Message rejected by filter rule match’ ?You have posted to the old, obsolete list address (epuk@lists.epuk.org – which is no longer used) instead of the new one. This can happen if you are on the digest and have just hit “reply” to send to the list. You need to send your reply to the list address, which is epuk@epuk.org. I got a message from Womble !Womble is our system which checks posts sent to the list and makes sure they haven’t broken any of our list guidelines. It will offer various possibilities for what has happened, and what changes you need to make. If the automated message doesn’t help, email the helpdesk How can I change my registered email address ?1. Enter your current registered email address and password below, and click on “Log in”. 2. On the next page, enter the email address (twice!) that you would like to change your EPUK subscription to, and click “Change my address and name” 3. You will be sent a confirmation to the new email address. Once it arrives, click on the link in it to confirm. Until that happens, your email address will still be the same as before.
My inbox is getting filled up with EPUK posts. Help !EPUK is a busy mailing list, and we strongly recommend you use filters to put EPUK posts into their own folder. You can find step-by-step guides on how to do this for some of the main email clients here Alternatively, if you would prefer to receive one or two big “digest” emails a day, rather than each individual post, you can change your delivery settings yourself by following the instructions here:
How do I switch between the regular and digest delivery ?Regular delivery – which is the default for new subscribers – means you get emails individually when they are sent to the list. Digest delivery means you get just one or two condensed emails each day which contain all the list emails. To change your settings: 1. Enter your email address and password below, and click on “Log in”. 2. On the next page, scroll down to Set Digest Mode. Tick “Off” for regular, “On” for Digest 3. Scroll down to the bottom and click “Submit my changes”
I’ve forgotten my list password. To get your password emailed to you: 1. Enter your subscription email address below, then click “Remind”
My password isn’t being accepted !Ask for a password reminder by following the instructions here. All the passwords changed when the servers moved in March 2006, and passwords from before that date will no longer be accepted
I asked for a password reminder – but it hasn’t arrived !Check you entered your correct email address in the first box. If you enter an email address for which there isn’t a relevant subscription, you won’t get a warning – just the “reminder has been sent” message. If that seems okay, then check your spam folder or filter to make sure it hasn’t ended up there by mistake
I want to unsubscribe completelyTo unsubscribe from EPUK: 1. Enter your subscription email address below, then click “Unsubscribe” 2. An email will be sent to you – you will need to follow the instructions in it to cancel your unsubscription.
I’m going on holiday and want to suspend delivery of list postsTo temporarily turn off delivery of posts (known as the “nomail” setting): 1. Enter your email address and password below and click on “Log in”. 2. On the next page, scroll down to Mail Delivery. Tick “Disabled” to turn off delivery, and check “Set Globally” to apply the same to your EPUK Weekly News delivery. 3. Scroll down to the bottom and click “Submit my changes”
Where are the list archives ?We moved servers in March 2006, and – to keep things interesting – again in September 2006. Only the archives since September 2006 are currently online, and you can find them at http://archives.epuk.org. The archives prior to that date are currently offline.
I don’t seem to be getting EPUK posts anymore…That could be for a number of reasons. Most probable is the list could be especially quiet. But as a general rule, if you haven’t received any posts for the last couple of weekdays, that would be unusual. Here’s what to do:
…and check that your mail delivery is “on” and that there is no mention of “bounces” at the top of the page. (If a large number of bounces are received from your account, your delivery will be switched off, but you will still be an EPUK member)
None of these help solve my problem !If none of the advice above resolves the problem, email a moderator at help@epuk.org and we’ll be in touch to help out. |
