Red faces for bosses at iStockphoto after the agency admitted accepting stolen images into its collection reports the BJP.
The Getty owned library says it uncovered a scam where a contributor named ‘Vulcanacar’ downloaded images belonging to Icelandic photographer Rebekka Guoleifsdottir, recaptioned them with his own details and then re-introduced for sale them into iStockphoto’s collection, offering them for sale.
iStockphoto executive VP Kelly Thompson says that due to international nature of the stock business there is no legal recourse for the agency because ‘[Vulcanacar] is in a country where it would be very difficult to do too much to him.
