RSSFoot & Mouth photographer guilty
A photographer has must pay £7000 after being convicted of breaching foot-and-mouth restrictions reports the Surrey Advertiser.
Phillip Robert Hollis was found guilty at South West Surrey Magistrates’ Court of breaking the Animal Health Act whilst working for the Daily Telegraph.
Deputy District Judge Adrian Turner fined him £2,000 and ordered him to pay £5,000 costs.
Hollis – of Park Road, Hampton Wick, south-west London – was found on infected land off Westward Lane, Normandy, hours before herds were due to be culled in the first foot-and-mouth outbreak on August 4 last year.
James Cornelius Barry Purkiss, of The Hurdles, Fareham, also known as Jay Kaycappa, faces similar charges.
His hearing was adjourned until March 31 in case Hollis appeals against his sentence.
