This picture was taken as part of a project I am involved in called 24photography. 24 photographers documenting the first 24 hours of each new year, exhibiting annually for 24 years. My time this year was 1 am and each year your time moves on to the next hour so at the end of the 24 years you will have 24 consecutive hours to exhibit or publish.
I decided to travel to Amsterdam for New Year and this photograph was taken in a street just off of Newmarket Square. The atmosphere was electric. Instead of being a spectator at a fireworks display, you are actually in the display with people setting off rockets all around you. I saw these two boys through this mesh and I knew that it could be an eye catching shot. I like the way the silhouettes of the two boys create an element of intrigue and mystery to the image. Amsterdam is a fantastic place to spend New Year and has infinite photographic opportunities.
