This was taken back in 1992 when digital imaging (for me) was very much in its infancy. It was my first satisfying image scanned into my 180C laptop, using my Nikon scanner, (no not the Coolscan, the other one). I had been asked by the ‘Basketball Association’ to supply some images for an instructional basketball book they were publishing.
About half the pics came from my stock files, the remainder were taken in a gym in the Midlands. No lights, (as such), just fast film, (Fuji 800), and (very) wide aperture lenses. This picture was taken for the cover, and to get it I had to have a scaffold built behind the backboard, and lean out over the top of the hoop – very ‘Heath Robinson’
The book was called ‘Play the game – Basketball’, published in 1992
