This shot was taken on one of my very first commissions straight out of college. The shot wasn’t actually part of the commission but was taken at the end of the day before heading back to my B&B. I had been commissioned by the National Trust to photograph Watersmeet House, which is a beautiful piece of architecture on the banks of the river Lyn, and when driving back to Lynmouth to grab a bite to eat I could see the colour of the sky as I approached. I just about had enough energy to grab my camera from the car and quickly set up to get the last strip of light on Foreland point. I had to use a 2 stop ND to bring the contrast down to allow for some detail in the foreground and consequently only had time to shoot 2 frames of film. The sales from this image now far outweigh the commission I was sent to Lynmouth for.
