“Photographer forced to sell cameras” tear-jerker

Here at EPUK Towers, we’re still fighting back the tears at the tragic tale of Thurman “Jack” Naylor. (Quite how someone with a first name of “Thurman” ends up with a nickname of “Jack” escapes us, but we’ll let that one pass).

Pressures of space have apparently forced the 86-year old collector to sell his 30,000 strong photography collection, which include a Magaletoscopio, daguerreotypes, Deardorffs and other vowel-heavy items which suggest it would be unwise to engage the old-timer in a game of Scrabble.

What could possibly dry the tears ? We’re guessing the $20million that the collection is conservatively valued at, may go some way to heal the pain. Let’s hope Mr Naylor’s heart is strong enough for the sight of Anna Nicole Smith on his doorstep. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to dust off the old Rollei T…

What is EPUK?

EPUK is an email group for professional editorial photographers who want to talk business. We don’t do techie stuff or in-crowd gossip. We don’t talk cameras or computers. What we talk about are the nuts and bolts of being in business - like copyright, licensing, fees and insurance.
