EPUK Editorial Photographers United Kingdom and Ireland. The private mailing list and public resource for editorial photographers

The EPUK List Rules

Being a member of EPUK, reading or sending a message to the group means you agree to follow the rules of EPUK

MEMBERSHIP – Membership is open to UK or Ireland based full-time editorial photographers. Overseas photographers may be admitted if they regularly supply photographs for editorial use in UK/Irish publications either directly or through agencies/libraries. Applications to join EPUK must be approved by the list Moderators. You must leave the list if you no longer fit the membership criteria – including if, for example, you take a job on a picture desk. The Moderators may at their judgement approve a non-photographer for membership providing that that member has a professional service (such as a lawyer) to offer the list.

PERSONAL_INFORMATION – All members fill in their full real name in their email settings of their respective email program. Members must provide a biography and details of the work they are involved in for posting on the EPUK List.

MESSAGES – All postings to EPUK must be about the business of editorial photography in Britain or Ireland. Relevant discussion is the business of editorial photography, magazine, newspaper and publishing contracts, usage rights, editorial assignment fees, editorial stock fees, copyright and related issues.

PRIVACY – Messages on EPUK are strictly private. Do not re-post or quote EPUK messages without the specific permission of the original poster or anybody quoted in the original posting.

DECLARING_INTERESTS – Declare any financial or other interest in a topic in the opening paragraph of each post made on that topic.

REPLIES – Edit your messages to be concise. When quoting a previous message only quote the relevant section. All quotes must be in Internet standard (>) quote marks. Do not quote the whole message. What is EPUK?

EPUK is an email group for professional editorial photographers who want to talk business. We don’t do techie stuff or in-crowd gossip. We don’t talk cameras or computers. What we talk about are the nuts and bolts of being in business - like copyright, licensing, fees and insurance.
