More jobs woe for Getty

Getty customers are licensing fewer traditional stock images and using more images from it’s microstock site, iStockPhoto.com reports PDN.

Income from stock sales was down overall compared to the same quarter last year.

Surprisingly, however editorial imagery showed strong growth especially celebrity imagery, Getty CEO Jonanthan Klein said.

Editorial income grew 40 percent, largely due to the acquisition of WireImage – the photo and video entertainment archive.

But this has not stopped Getty from laying off another 100 staff – the second round of redundancies in 2007.

What is EPUK?

EPUK is an email group for professional editorial photographers who want to talk business. We don’t do techie stuff or in-crowd gossip. We don’t talk cameras or computers. What we talk about are the nuts and bolts of being in business - like copyright, licensing, fees and insurance.
