I worked all day near the Gaza border with Israel ‘chasing’ after the rockets. Late at night a ‘Grad’ Rocket landed on a building and I shot this picture, it is one of the last pictures that I have from Israel.
I won a prize at the annual 2008 Israel-Palestine photography competition for this picture and others that formed a news series from that day.
Tal Cohen’s love of photography started as a child and at the age of 14 his first published picture appeared in a local newspaper. At the age of 15, he joined a daily national newspaper in Israel.
Over the following years, Tal worked as a staff photographer for the most widely published Israeli newspaper ‘Yedioth Aharonoth’. From 2001 until 2005 he covered the second ‘Intifadah’ in Israel and the West Bank along with news and sports all over Israel for the French Press Agency; AFP, working as their photographer in Tel Aviv. His pictures were published in newspapers and magazines worldwide, including Time Magazine, Newsweek, Stern, Der Spiegel, Le Point, and many more.
He is a freelance press photographer currently based in London.
