Dance For All, South Africa - Lynn Hilton, 2007

11 July 2011

This photograph of a young ballerina was taken in South Africa in 2007. It was one of several personal projects I undertook during an eight-week trip to the Western Cape.

The ballerina was a participant in Dance for All, a charity that helps disadvantaged children with opportunities for enjoyment and empowerment through the medium of dance. It was taken in Gugulethu, a township in Cape Town.

Lynn Hilton’s career in professional photography began in 1982 at the Oldham Evening Chronicle. In 1984 she moved to London and freelanced for the nationals before becoming a staff photographer on The Mail on Sunday in 1986. During her time there she travelled extensively, covering a wide variety of subjects from celebrities, to politicians, British Royals, and major news and sports events. Lynn currently works for editorial, PR and corporate clients as well as pursuing several personal projects.

Photographer since 1982. EPUK member since 2006.

What is EPUK?

EPUK is an email group for professional editorial photographers who want to talk business. We don’t do techie stuff or in-crowd gossip. We don’t talk cameras or computers. What we talk about are the nuts and bolts of being in business - like copyright, licensing, fees and insurance.
