Shooting hair is quite tricky, as it doesn’t always do what you want it to. We would begin the shoot and after taking five frames would have to stop for the hair stylist to spray the modal’s hair or make adjustments with a comb. Then the clothes would need to have a small adjustment because of all the movement. And so it goes on. The whole process is ‘test and measure’ with frequent pauses to make all important alterations. Patience and a keen eye are essential to work with a team of stylists, models and make-up artists and keeping the client happy too.
Amanda Thomas began her career working as a professional photographer in 1998 and later this month will be celebrating ten years in the business.
