David Hoffman is a specialist in social issues photography. Much of his work centres on the increasingly visible control the state exerts over our lives and choices. In November 2013 he received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of East London for his work documenting racial and social conflict, policing, homelessness, drugs, poverty, social exclusion and environmental protection in Britain for a period of more than 35 years. Vice Chairman of the British Photographic Council, a founding member of Editorial Photographers UK and Photo-Forum London with a critical interest in issues around press freedom and policing as well as copyright and intellectual property, David is actively engaged on the frontline of his beleaguered profession.
