Why we may collect your data

Personal Information

There are three times when you may be asked to supply personal information (anything which enables us to identify you in some way, such as your name and an email address)on www.epuk.org. These are:

• If you apply to join EPUK, when we will ask for enough personal and biographical information to enable us to make a decision about your membership. This information is sent, in the first instance, to the Membership Moderator, who may share it with other moderators to make a decision as to eligibility. If the Membership Moderator feels that you are eligible for membership, your information is then posted onlist to see whether any other members object to you joining. By posting onlist, the information you provide will be sent by email to all EPUK members, as well as being held in our archive of past messages. Beyond this, however, we never pass this information to third parties.

• If you post a comment on a web article, we need your name (or nickname) and email address before your comment is accepted. Your name will be visible when your comment is published, but your email address will not. Your email is used to verify that you are not a spammer, and may be used by an EPUK moderator to contact you if your comment is of interest to them.

General

We may collect and record information in order for us to understand more about how our site is used and in turn to make the site better. In order to do this we may send cookies to your computer. A cookie will contain information that allows us to recognise that you have used the site before, and allows, for example, your name and email address to be “remembered” on comments for when you revisit the site. If you do not want cookies to be stored on your computer it is possible to disable this function within your browser without affecting your navigation around the site.

Google and the DoubleClick DART cookie

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to users based on their visit to your sites and other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.

When you contact us

If you contact a moderator through an epuk.org email address, we will keep your email on file, and may share the contents with other moderators in order to answer or better understand your query

Other sites

This website may include links to other sites, where the content is not controlled by us. We cannot be held responsible for the contents of such websites, or the privacy of data collected by third party websites.

Who we share information with

We don’t. EPUK does not rent or sell mailing details to any third party. However, EPUK may occasionally send information ourselves about other organisations whose work we support, but we will not pass your details to these organisations.
