Software giant Adobe is ceasing to offer a royalty free image service it has announced.
From March 31st 2008 no further sales can be made and all accounts will be cancelled.
Adobe is also asking everyone who has purchased Creative Suite to remove the option from their application using an uninstaller they have produced.
Adobe says the decision was made so that the company can “concentrate its efforts in other areas”.
Adobe launched Adobe Stock in May 2005 when it integrated a stock photo browser into the Adobe Bridge component of its Creative Suite software. It used images from Amana, BananaStock, Blend Images, Brand X Pictures, Comstock, Creatas, Digital Archive Japan, Digital Vision, Glow Images, Goodshoot, Image Source, Ingram Publishing, IPN Relay, IT Stock Free, Masterfile, Photodisc, PhotoObjects.net, Photosindia, Redchopsticks, Stockbyte, Tetra Images and Thinkstock.
