The Commonwealth Press Union is now inviting entries for the 2006/7 Photographic awards on the theme of ‘Achievement’.
The competition, which is open to both professional and amateur photographers aged 18 and over, and who are based in a Commonwealth country are are over the age of 18, aims to offer a view of how people in the Commonwealth, with its mixture of races, creeds, cultures and ways of life, see themselves and others

There are three categories this year:
- Overall Awards: with one overall winner winning £1000, and five regional winners.
- The Canberra Times/CPU Young Photographer Award: entrants from developing countries fo the Commonwealth who are aged from 21-25 years have the opportunity to win a four-week photographic residency at The Canberra Times in Canberra, Australia.
- ‘Three Pictures – One Story’ Award: entrants are invited to tell a story of ‘Achievement’ in three images, with a prize of £250.
