Don McPhee, the legendary Guardian photographer who spent 33 years working for the title died on Saturday from cancer. He was 61.
McPhee, who was based in the paper’s Manchester office, but who also travelled on foreign assignments to cover the 1988 US Presidential election and to photograph Nelson Mandela in South Africa was a well respected and much loved photojournalist.
