Gun-Cameras Outlawed

Owners of the legendary Zenith Sniper camera will be crying into their back copies of ‘Soldier of Fortune’ magazine when the Government outlaws the sale of cameras that resemble guns reports Amateur Photographer. Failure to comply could land lawbreakers with a £5000 fine and 51 weeks in prison.

Though it will still be legal to own a replica gun camera, the news will dash enthusiasts’ hopes that these items would escape the legislation, re-igniting fears that their collection will be rendered worthless when the law takes effect.

The rules form part of the Violent Crime Reduction Act which has recently been given Royal Assent and which could come into force within months.

What is EPUK?

EPUK is an email group for professional editorial photographers who want to talk business. We don’t do techie stuff or in-crowd gossip. We don’t talk cameras or computers. What we talk about are the nuts and bolts of being in business - like copyright, licensing, fees and insurance.
