Legendary photojournalism agency Magnum Photos have refused to sign a contract to photograph development on London’s Olympic Park in the run up to the 2012 games, the BJP reports.
Magnum President Stuart Franklin has told organisers that specific clauses, which would hand copyright to the organisers, stop photographers from “embarassing” the games body or sponsors, and allow organisers to edit, crop and modify pictures as they see fit, are against the whole ethos of photojournalism.
The Olympic Delivery Authority have remained unrepentant, and defended the tender contract, which states that quality will only form 10% of the final tender evaluation, compared to 30% for price.
