The Crown Prosecution Service has decided that no further action should be taken against actor Jude Law over an alleged attack on a photographer.
Law, 34, was arrested last month following a complaint to police from a paparazzo photographer who claimed he had been punched in the face and kicked to the ground near the actor’s Maida Vale home in London. The Alfie star was also alleged to have tried to seize the photographer’s camera.
“I was at a bus stop near Jude’s house but I wasn’t taking pictures of him. My camera was still in the bag.”, said the photographer at the time. “He was by himself when he recognised me and started accusing me of being a paedophile and that all I wanted to do was take pictures of his children.
Law claimed the photographer had provoked him, and described the incident as “a little bit of a set-to”.
While the photographer has not been named, the Evening Standard published a photograph of him at the time being attended to by a paramedic.
The Oscar-nominated actor said that he was “delighted to have been vindicated”.
