A photographic exhibition celebrating the National Union of Journalists’ centenary has gone online as part of the union’s Stand Up for Journalism campaign.
The website – which is sponsored by EPUK – features 100 news images from around the world taken by over eighty NUJ photographer members from recent decades.
In his foreword to the exhibition, NUJ General Secretary Jeremy Dear writes: “The skill of a good photographer is not something that can be replicated by a passer by with a camera phone. Publishers and broadcasters need to recognise this if they want to continue to attract attention in an era of dramatically increased competition in the media.”
The exhibition has already been shown at the NUJ Photographers’ conference, the Foreign Press Association, and next year will be shown at FOTO8, Calumet Manchester and the Stroud Photo Festival.
The exhibition website can be seen at www.standupforphotojournalism.org.
