John Prescott has belatedly shown good humour over a set of photographs which caused him considerable embarrassment while in office.
The photographs, taken in May 2006 by EPUK member Gary Trotter, showed Prescott playing croquet on the lawns of his official mansion at a time when he was left in charge of running the country.
But at a book signing at Ruskin College, Oxford, the former Deputy Prime Minister agreed to autograph a print for Trotter.
Trotter told EPUK: “Prescott took it quite well, but he did say: “That was bloody illegal that was !’ He’s convinced I took the pix on Dorneywood’s grounds which I didn’t.”
“The photo is used in his book in which he describes them as ‘blurry’. The cheeky bastard! They’re not blurry they’re just pulled up a lot- well I was six hundred yards away!”
