The High Court of Brandenburg has ruled that the fundamental right of press freedom overrides regulations restricting photography in gardens in the German region of Prussia.
In a ruling made on February 18th 2010, the regional High Court of Brandenburg rejected a case put by the Foundation of Prussian Castles and Gardens that press photography in the foundation’s gardens should be banned.
The High Court’s decision was welcomed by plaintiffs Ostkreuz Photo Agency and the Fotofinder internet portal.
The foundation is to appeal against the ruling.
