A Pulitzer prize nominated photographer has resigned from his newspaper after admitting altering his images reports the ToledoBlade.
Allan Detrich told his editor last week that he changed a photo of the Bluffton University baseball team for his personal files and mistakenly transmitted the the picture for publication.
The original photo showed the players kneeling at their first game after a bus crash that killed five other players in Atlanta, Georgia.
Detrich admitted he digitally removed the legs of a person standing behind a banner to make the image more appealling.
Subsequently the newspaper has discovered an additional 79 images that had been altered – apparently by Detrich, and in an unusual move published them on it’s website for viewers to compare and contrast.
Detrich was nominated in 1998 for a series of images concerning child abuse called Children of the Underground.
