US software giant Adobe stands accused of overcharging non-US customers in its pricing of the CS3 suite of software, including the latest version of Photoshop, which is due to be released later this month.
According to calculations by UK web designer Nigel Moore, prices for the full versions of CS3 are around 50% higher than the US, with upgrades at around double the price.
Prices for Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended are as follows (UK prices include VAT, and US$ equivalents are correct at the time of writing)
UK Price | US Price | |
CS3 | £569($1124) | $649 |
CS3 Extended | £887($1752) | $999 |
CS3 Upgrade | £163 ($322) | $199 |
CS3 Extended Upgrade | £386 ($762) | $349 |
A separate petition which calls for Adobe to “revise their pricing for Europe and apply fair pricing for European countries” had attracted over 500 signatures at the time of writing.
