Shot Up North (SUN), the annual judged exhibition designed to promote commercial and advertising photography in the north of the UK, has announced that the number of photographers entering this years competition is up by 40%
This year’s judging panel includes art director Tom Richard, internationally acclaimed digital- printer and photographer Jack Lowe, Andy Balman, Director of Newcastle’s Biscuit Factory the largest commercial gallery in Europe, and Peter Brandon of PR agency WPS. The panel was chaired by Jon Cohen of Fujifilm.
An exhibition featuring all the awards winners and the top 50 Best Image entries will be on show at the Lowry Hotel Manchester from 27th October. The opening night private view will also feature the 2006 Awards presentation to all the winners.
The exhibition continues until 31st October and will also tour to Leeds and then around the country. The awards are sponsored by Towergate Camerasure, Fujifilm, Phase One, Comme Ca Art and supported by Fresh Awards, Redeye, Qualitech, Eyelook, and the AOP.
Coinciding with the Awards Presentation night, the 2006 SUN Book will be launched, featuring all the exhibited winners, and feature articles by photographers and art directors.
