In November 2006 I was being tossed around in a small boat, working for the Irish Skipper, a monthly fishing newspaper here in Ireland.
The photo accompanied a story about the conditions fishermen face each year on the Donegal coast. The lighthouse on Arranmore Island, Co. Donegal stands on cliffs, which are over 200 feet high. Conditions were rough, staying upright was difficult and trying to get the right shot was almost impossible.
This photo has also been used as a backdrop for RTE’s weather forecast as well as in their 2008 calendar.
John has been taking photos for over twenty years but only turned professional in 2005. He does regular media work for the Donegal press and specialises in marine and landscape photography. ‘Sea angling in Ireland’ is a book, written and published by John earlier this year, which is on sale at Amazon, WHSmith as well as all good book stores.
John’s main clients are the media from within the marine sector as well as many businesses involved in marine based activities.
Photographer since 2005, EPUK member since 2007.
