Omani Musicians – Jason Larkin, 2006.
Photographer since 2004, EPUK member since 2006.

Having been pushed around by a huge crowd at the Muscat music festival following a musical precession, I ended up in a very small alley which was lined side to side with spectators trying to get a glimpse of the musicians.

It was a hard shot to get due to hundreds of people squeezing past me in the precession but it was a great chance to turn off the flash and use the available lighting and get a full body shot of Omanis in the dishdasha.

Personally I like the simplicity of the image, and the graphical feel it takes on with the black sky and gowned men.

Jason Larkin graduated from Falmouth College of Arts in 2002. He spent the next two years assisting, and has been a freelance professional ever since. He continued his studies with an MA in Photojournalism, which he completed last year.

Photographer since 2004, EPUK member since 2006.

What is EPUK?

EPUK is an email group for professional editorial photographers who want to talk business. We don’t do techie stuff or in-crowd gossip. We don’t talk cameras or computers. What we talk about are the nuts and bolts of being in business - like copyright, licensing, fees and insurance.
