Staff photographers working for the Dublin-based Irish Times have been awarded a 5.43% pay increase following negotiations between the title and the National Union of Journalists’ Irish Office.
While cost increasing claims are not allowed in the Republic of Ireland under the terms of the social partnership agreement, the NUJ convinced management that photographers should have their pay increased to end long standing anomalies at the title. The agreement was unanimously endorsed by photographers at the title.
NUJ President Michelle Stanistreet said: “The union continues to show that where we are strong and well-organised we can make a real difference to members’ pay be they writers, subs or photographers”
The announcement came days after EPUK reported widespread discontent among Ireland-based photographers following the NUJ’s controversial Drogheda Independent house agreement.
