Amsterdam – Mykel Nicolaou, 2000.
Photographer since 1993, EPUK member since 2000.

This is a photo I took in Amsterdam in 2000 of a shop window of “live” mannequins modelling lingerie. A beautiful crisp winter day reflected the mood of people in and out of the window. The live models attracted the attention of the passing public and I enjoyed the interaction between the models & the couples outside.

You can feel the expressions of the males staring at the girls inside & the moment was made more intense by the silence of the street . A voyeuristic moment caught on camera …

Mykel Nicolaou was born in South Africa, but has lived in the UK since 1996.

Most of his work is for the Independent and The Times, Elle Deco and the Japanese fashion magazine Pen, plus a smattering of blue chip clients including international banks.

Among Mykel’s major projects is the documenting of the London Sinfonietta since 2000 (see web link).

Mykel hopes to have his website (mykelnicolaou.com) up and running soon.

Photographer since 1993, EPUK member since 2000.

What is EPUK?

EPUK is an email group for professional editorial photographers who want to talk business. We don’t do techie stuff or in-crowd gossip. We don’t talk cameras or computers. What we talk about are the nuts and bolts of being in business - like copyright, licensing, fees and insurance.
